Michelob ULTRA Zero has tweaked its giant Jonathan David billboard outside Toronto Stadium to mark his record-breaking performance, just ahead of Canada’s big group-stage match against Switzerland.
The update is a nod to history. David scored a hat trick in Canada’s 6-0 rout of Qatar, the country’s first-ever World Cup win, and the billboard now shows him holding up three fingers in recognition. It was a genuinely historic night, with David becoming the first player to score a World Cup hat trick on home soil since Geoff Hurst did it in the 1966 final.
Canada heads into the Switzerland match needing only a draw to lock up top spot in their group, so the timing of the billboard lines up with one of the bigger moments of the tournament for the home crowd.
