Who am I?
More than a thousand years ago, a young Indian monk devoted his extraordinary life to this timeless question.
Adi Shankaracharya, traditionally dated to around 788–820 CE, is one of the most influential teachers of Advaita Vedanta.
Tradition associates his childhood with Kalady, Kerala. He embraced the life of a renunciate at a young age and became a disciple of Govinda Bhagavatpada.
He later travelled widely across India, teaching, debating and explaining the wisdom of the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita and Brahma Sutras.
At the heart of Advaita is a profound idea:
