From puppy sitter to puppy raiser, #volunteer Amanda Acuna has been making a difference with Canine Companions since 2022, turning her lifelong love of dogs into a way to help others. 💛💙 After joining step_ucf, an undergraduate student club at University of Central Florida with a mission of raising puppies to become future #servicedogs for Canine Companions, she was inspired by the incredible impact facility dogs have in healthcare. “I am currently in an accelerated nursing program, and I was inspired by facility dogs,” says Amanda. “The idea of a facility dog really resonated with me and my career; I had no idea it was a possibility to have dogs in healthcare.” “My family was always giving back and volunteering.
