I walk into his room, wake him up and the first thing I ask is, “You ready?” He opens his eyes and immediately says “yes.” No hesitation. I didn’t have to ask twice. I didn’t have to convince him or give him five more minutes. He already knew what time it was. And this isn’t something he does just for the camera. The kid genuinely loves getting up and doing this with me. He shows up every time. He’s only 7, so obviously I want him to be a kid and enjoy being a kid.
