Is college becoming less worth it? A new data analysis from Burning Glass Institute found that right now, Americans aged 24-32 without college degrees currently have one of the best job markets in history. Conversely, for Americans 24-32, unemployment is at its worst levels since COVID and the Great Recession of the late '00s. Why is this happening? Well one theory is that for trade jobs, those not requiring college degrees, more people in older generations have been forced to retire while immigration has been slowing down considerably, opening more of those jobs up. On the other side, for highly-skilled jobs requiring a college degree, there has never been more competition, and the rise of AI starting to eliminate a lot of entry level jobs that were the gateways to the greater workfoce.
