Daily Mail reporter Rachel Sharp was inside the courtroom as Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial officially ended in a mistrial - after covering every day of the five-week trial. Clancy stared blankly ahead from her wheelchair as Judge William Sullivan made the announcement, several female jurors wept and her attorney Kevin Reddington appeared devastated. The jury had deliberated for almost 38 hours over seven days, with 11 jurors reportedly agreeing on a verdict and one male holdout refusing to join them. Reddington launched a last-ditch emergency appeal to prevent the mistrial, but Massachusetts’ highest court declined to intervene. Clancy remains charged with killing her three children - Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan, in January 2023. She admits killing them but maintains she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible. She will now return to Tewksbury State Hospital while prosecutors decide whether to try the case again.
