There’s an insect zoo and museum that offers gentle tarantula handling experiences in Portland. It’s entirely dedicated to dispeling some myths about these creatures, and showcasing how important bugs are to our ecology. Gentle tarantula handling experiences are limited capacity events held on a few select dates each month. The next opportunities are September 16 and September 27. Opportunities to interact with other insects, such as the incredble leaf bug, are available for an additional charge during regular admission hours. Entry is available for 30-45 minutes at a time, and guests are encouraged to reserve their spot in advance.
