Auburn and Baylor face off for a rematch of last year's meeting in Waco. The two teams have played five times previously, with the first being the 1954 Gator Bowl. Baylor would fumble the opening kickoff of the game, and Auburn would score just a few plays later. The Tigers would never trail and win 33-13. 1965 would bring the Bears to Auburn for the first time. Baylor would come to town and quickly go up 14-0 in the season opener. Auburn scored a touchdown and two-point conversion as time expired to fall 14-8. Auburn would make the return trip to Waco, TX in 1975. It was a game in which nothing could go right for Auburn, with five total fumbles (only two lost) and two interceptions thrown. Auburn and Baylor would play to a 10-10 tie to start Shug Jordan's final season as head coach with an 0-1-1 record after a loss to Memphis in the opener.
