When Joey Spallina first arrived at Syracuse, he promised not to just bring the Orange their first national championship since 2009, but to put four banners in the JMA Wireless Dome in four years.
But in Charlottesville, Virginia, Saturday evening, Spallina’s illustrious Syracuse career ended with zero national titles. Four years after he promised a quartet of championships, Spallina stumbled to just two points in the game that mattered most.
“It’s just the way sports is. The way life is,” Spallina said postgame.
