How are Modernize Tailors and the Wongs’ Benevolent Association connected? 🕵️‍♂️💼 Here’s a Chinatown history fact you probably didn’t know. When early Chinese immigrants arrived in Canada, they faced language barriers, racism, and exclusion from many social services. Associations like the Wongs’ Benevolent Association became a lifeline, providing support, guidance, and a sense of belonging when there was nowhere else to turn. Over generations, the Association evolved from a support system into a cultural anchor, helping preserve the Chinese language, celebrate traditions, and maintain the stories of Chinese Canadians in Vancouver. What many don’t know? Modernize’s roots are woven right into that history.
