In this clip from The Drift, tastytrade founder Tom Sosnoff reacts to comments made by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and gives him rare credit. At the G20 finance ministers' meeting in Asheville, North Carolina this week, Bessent said AI companies have done a "horrendous job" explaining themselves to the American people, adding that the conversation around AI and data centers needs "a big reset." He argued the industry not just the government has a responsibility to explain how the AI buildout benefits ordinary Americans, not just corporations. Sosnoff agrees. He told Adam Mesh on The Drift that the AI narrative has been dangerously narrow, focused almost entirely on the companies building the infrastructure the data centers, the labs, the hyperscalers while doing almost nothing to address the concerns of everyday consumers.
