This time, we started with America’s 50 largest cities (rather than 15) by population and evaluated the public golf available within a 30-mile radius (rather than 15) of each city center. From those 50 cities, the 15 highest-scoring cities made the cut. The final BGC score combines two things: ⛳ QUANTITY — 40% How many public-access golf courses are available within 30 miles. The city with the most courses sets the benchmark at 100, with every other city scored relative to it. ⭐ QUALITY — 60% Because having 100 mediocre courses shouldn’t automatically beat having 50 great ones. We evaluated the strength of each city’s 10 best public-access courses, using respected national and state rankings and course evaluations from sources including Golfweek, Golf Digest and GOLF.
