📚 EPublic education advocates gathered in Tallahassee on Thursday to call for legislation to protect public schools.
Groups specifically voiced concern about a Schools of Hope law allowing charter schools to co-locate in public schools.
They also criticized Florida’s school voucher system, saying the state is draining public school funds to fund them.
Andrew Spar is the president of the Florida Education Association.
“When you see what’s happening in the state of Florida, from the lawbooks I showed you, with over 1,408 pages of laws for public schools, yet only 68 pages for charter schools, and 19 pages for vouchers? How is that a level playing field?” Spar said.
