Week 3 of Florida’s legislative session kicked off Monday.
Florida House Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell and Democratic Representative Kelly Skidmore addressed members of the press.
“This attack on property taxes is a distraction because the Republicans are persisting in their dysfunction and they can’t solve the property insurance crisis. Ending property taxes means either we get fewer services, or our communities have to pay for this some other way like new taxes or fees.” Driskell said during a press call.
Driskell highlighted congressional redistricting and a push to eliminate property taxes as two topics dominating the session so far.
“I would love to support a property tax cut, especially as Florida faces an affordability crisis, but I’m not yet comfortable with any plan I’ve seen yet that just costs our communities too much.” Driskell said.
