A new bill could finally set a plan in motion to restore North Florida’s long-dammed Ocklawaha River to a free-flowing state, a change advocates say would revive ecosystems, reopen springs, and benefit communities.
Lawmakers would require the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to create a restoration plan by 2032 and support outdoor recreation, economic development, and local voices along the river corridor.
