when ghost rider released in 2007, people absolutely did not know what to do with it. the reviews for the film were rough! the dialogue was a lil ridiculous, the cgi was questionable and nic cage was… nice cage. somehow, almost 20 years later, ghost rider has developed this completely unhinged cult following and i honestly think we’ve come around to appreciating it for exactly what it is. this and blade are the kind of movies i look back on and sort of attribute together in a sub-genre of marvel movies that i wish was utilised a hell of a lot more! the first ghost rider made over $228 million worldwide, so despite what the reviews said, audiences clearly showed up for their flaming skull man, and i think that’s why the character has stuck around. the idea of a man cursed to become this supernatural spirit of vengeance, riding through the night with his head literally on fire, is so fucking metal that you almost don’t need anything else. marvel has officially announced a new ghos...
