I’ve been lifting since my teens. I was never the one afraid of the barbell — but I know so many of you are apprehensive about weights.
And I get it, the myths run deep: “you’ll get bulky,” “it’s not for women,” “cardio is safer.”

Here’s what I do know after over two decades of training: strength work is more important now, as an over 40 woman, than it has ever been in my life. Not less — more.
As I’ve gotten older, this is the thing that’s protecting my body, not just shaping it. And I’m seeing it in real time — the definition, the strength, the way my body is responding differently than it did in my 20s.
