Nebraska volleyball’s early-season road swing was equal parts exhausting and unforgettable.
The Huskers traveled from Las Vegas to Chicago, where their historic match against Missouri at Wrigley Field was postponed because of unsafe court conditions. Now, Nebraska is back in Lincoln for three matches in three days and its first chance to play inside a renovated Devaney Center.
“It’s been such an amazing trip, even though it was tiring,” Nebraska middle blocker Manaia Ogbechie said. “What a blessing it is to make such an impact on, I’d say, the progression of women’s sports.”
The trip delivered a once-in-a-lifetime setting at Wrigley, but the night ended early when condensation made the temporary court too slippery to continue. Nebraska libero Olivia Mauch said the team found a way to laugh through an unusual situation.
“I made a joke to Jordan Larson yesterday, like, have you ever heard of Disney on Ice?” Mauch said. “We were like Huskers on Ice.”
