A grieving father says his son's murder was turned into a political weapon without his consent. Donald Hayes lost his son Shemar to gun violence in 2024. A conservative political group used his interview to build an attack ad against Senate candidate Roy Cooper, falsely suggesting Cooper's policies let his son's killer walk free. Reporters found the actual killer was never in prison and was never released by anyone. Hayes says he only wanted to raise awareness about gun violence, not sway an election. Now he's calling the ad exactly what he believes it is, a lie built on his family's grief. Tap the link in bio for the full story. #Blavity #GunViolence #NorthCarolina
