Today is #ThreatenedSpeciesDay, a reminder of the urgent need to protect wildlife around the globe. 🌍 The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) classifies species based on their risk of extinction, from "Least Concern" to "Extinct." Sadly, more than 47,000 species are currently threatened with extinction. Here at Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance, we care for species across the entire spectrum: Dillon, our nine-banded armadillo (Least Concern) Betty, our gerenuk (Near Threatened) Mahali, our hippopotamus (Vulnerable) Our reticulated giraffe herd (Endangered) The Lake Titicaca water frog (Critically Endangered) Panamanian golden frog (Extinct in the wild) Every visit to DZCA supports the care of these animals and fuels conservation efforts for their wild counterparts. Join us in learning more, connecting with wildlife, and helping ensure a future where wildlife can thrive. 🐾 #ThreatenedSpeciesDay #DenverZooConservationAlliance #SavingWildlifeTogether #Con...
