Seattle Hotel Workers’ Strike Becomes Washington’s Longest, With Pioneer Square Workers Still On The Picket Line✊🏨
Seattle hotel workers have now been on strike for more than 80 days, making the walkout at Embassy Suites in Pioneer Square the longest hotel strike in Washington state history. UNITE HERE Local 8 workers began the strike June 18, seeking higher wages, year-round health coverage and workplace protections.
The workers are seeking roughly $3-an-hour raises over the next two years, while Hilton has said it remains committed to negotiating in good faith. Seattle officials and community supporters have joined the picket line as negotiations continue.
