Matilda Scheurer was 19, and had already been poisoned four times by the job she kept returning to — dusting artificial flowers with copper arsenite green powder. It killed her in November 1861. A juror at her inquest noted France had already banned this poison. The verdict: accidental death. Britain never banned it. #BritishHistory #UKHistory #VictorianHistory
