A Georgetown County judge denied bond Saturday for the parents of 5-year-old Saylor Hayes, the child who was found dead in water near Pawleys Island earlier this week. John Hayes, 70, and Geordyn Hayes, 31, are charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk and willfully abandoning a child. “Respectfully, there’s no way on this earth that I’m going to grant PR bond,” the judge said during the hearing. “That’s not going to happen on my watch.” The judge cited the seriousness of the allegations and the defendants’ history when denying bond. “Due to the egregious nature of the charges and past history, which I advise the attorneys to look into like I have this morning, your bond is denied for both individuals,” the judge said.
