AMD just unveiled the kind of workstation that makes even the most powerful desktop PCs look modest.
The new Threadripper Halo Station combines a 96-core Threadripper Pro processor with up to 576GB of high-bandwidth GPU memory, giving it enough horsepower to tackle massive AI workloads, including trillion-parameter models, locally. That means some of the kinds of AI tasks normally associated with huge data centers and cloud infrastructure could potentially be handled by a machine sitting right under your desk.
Calling this thing a “workstation” almost feels like an understatement.
