The summer before freshman year of college is an exciting time. Most soak up the final fleeting moments with their high school friends, visit places they’ve been to more times than they can count or look anxiously at the suitcases that now hold what physically represents 18 years of life. But it is also during this time that UC Berkeley students receive an email informing them of the names of their freshman-year roommates. Most run to social media to see what kind of “vibe” their roommate will bring to their shared space. When Solomon Williams and Cormac Saint received that email, they both knew they had rugby in common. What they couldn’t know at the time is that they’d both get drafted into the same league just four years later, both selected in the 2026 Major League Rugby College Draft.
