A 16-year-old girl was killed in a shooting during Manassas’ First Friday celebration, and police are still searching for the people responsible.
The police chief told News4 that investigators believe two shooters were firing at each other near the train depot in Old Town Manassas. The 16-year-old victim was an innocent bystander, the chief said. A 21-year-old man was also shot and taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said in a Saturday evening update that 21-year-old Tasheem Douglas, the suspect believed to have shot the victim who died, is in custody at a local hospital. The investigation is still active, and police said they are working to identify and find anyone else involved.
Police estimate 8,000 to 10,000 people were at the event. News4’s Jessica Albert has the latest on the investigation.
