Athletes are expected to be strong all the time, but being strong doesn’t mean you have to be okay every day. Behind the jersey, the wins, the highlights, and the smiles, we are still people. We deal with pressure, stress, expectations, and things that others may never know about.
During Suicide Prevention Month, I want athletes to know that it’s okay to go through hard times. It’s okay to have bad days. It’s okay to talk about how you feel and ask for help when you need it.
You are more than your sport. Your value is not based on how many points you score, how well you play, or how many games you win. At the end of the day, you are a person before you are an athlete, and you matter. 💚
