Syracuse lost to California 21-18 in the JMA Wireless Dome Saturday in its Atlantic Coast Conference opener after Steve Angeli threw three interceptions.
Despite leading nearly the whole game, Syracuse could not close it out, as Angeli threw two of his three picks, including a go-ahead pick-six to Kingston Lopa, in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele led the Golden Bears to victory with 182 yards.
The loss was Syracuse’s eighth straight ACC loss, dating back to last September’s win over Clemson.
