Tom Sachs has spent decades taking familiar symbols of culture, status, and consumerism and rebuilding them through his own DIY language. Known for recreating highly recognizable objects with everyday materials like plywood, cardboard, tape, and hardware, Sachs makes the process of construction part of the work itself. In 31 rue Cambon, he turns that approach toward one of fashion’s most recognizable names: Chanel. The exhibition plays with the mythology of luxury and bootleg culture, stripping away precious materials while keeping the codes and symbols we immediately recognize. #TomSachs #31RueCambon #ContemporaryArt #ConceptualArt #NYCArt #ArtExhibition #GuyHepner
