In Focus: Marina Rheingantz, ‘Pipa’ (2026) at White Cube Seoul
Evoking the flight of kites, a long-standing cultural tradition in the Northeast region of Brazil and one Marina fondly remembers from her childhood, ‘Pipa’ uses natural hues of warm pink and calico, evocative of the bamboo, paper, and other simple materials often used to make these kites.
Suggestions of treetops, foliage and plumes of grass are interrupted by golden rays of light, so that the painting appears at times to adopt an aerial perspective or the suggestion of flight.
📍 ‘Marina Rheingantz: Míope’ is on view until 24 October 2026 at White Cube Seoul.
