Arizona summer pavement can get dangerously hot for dogs, and one Valley man found a pretty simple solution: put his dog in a cooler and pull him along instead. 🐶🧊
That might look funny at first, but the problem is real. During extreme heat, asphalt and sidewalks can become much hotter than the air, putting dogs at risk of painful paw burns in a matter of minutes.
The Arizona Humane Society recommends checking the ground before a walk and avoiding hot pavement whenever possible. Early mornings, late evenings, grass, booties, wagons and strollers can all help keep pets off scorching surfaces.
Phoenix also restricts dogs from city hiking trails once temperatures reach 100 degrees or higher.
What’s the most creative way you’ve seen someone keep their dog cool during an Arizona summer? 👀
