A bizarre federal case in Washington, D.C. somehow came with an Arizona twist 😳🌵
Federal prosecutors say 41-year-old Louis Geri set up a tent outside St. Matthew’s Cathedral in October 2025 and assembled more than 100 homemade explosive devices inside.
Investigators also found a nine-page list of demands.
One of them was especially bizarre: Geri wanted the U.S. Supreme Court to remove Arizona from the United States and declare the state a “foreign enemy.” 😳
Authorities say his other demands included hundreds of thousands of dollars, an extended stay at the Mayflower Hotel and a flight to Japan.
Police arrested Geri after he briefly stepped outside the tent. Investigators later determined the devices were operable, and prosecutors said he admitted he intended to use threats of force to push officials into negotiating with him.
Geri pleaded guilty in federal court to extortion by wrongful use of force, violence or fear and possession of an unregistered destructive device.
