The U.S. military launched one of the largest and most complex rescue efforts in its history to bring home Bravo, the U.S. Air Force officer who was shot down and stranded in Iran. The operation involved 155 American aircraft and a large contingent of U.S. special operations forces. Adm. Brad Cooper tells 60 Minutes that the operation had 92 people on the ground in Iran. “This would be the first U.S. boots on the ground [in Iran] in 46 years,” he says. “We had about several hundred in the air, and there were probably 3,000 to 5,000 supporting overall.
