25 years later, we remember September 11—and the spirit of September 12. 🇺🇸 In the days after unimaginable loss, people came together. Neighbors cared for neighbors. Strangers became sources of comfort. Communities showed us what it means to show up for one another. Today, I had the honor of visiting FDNY Engine 16/Ladder 7 in New York City, spending time with the firefighters who protect and serve this city, and personally thanking them for all they do. Behind the word “hero” are real people who run toward danger, make extraordinary sacrifices, and continue answering the call long after the headlines fade. Meeting them was a meaningful reminder that the courage and compassion we honor live on through those who serve every day. As we mark 25 years since September 11, we remember those we lost, the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the countless people who carried our country through the days, months, and years that followed.
