Multi-instrumentalist Jon Lampley stopped by the Relix office to perform songs off his new album, ‘Notes To Self.’ A deeply personal statement from an artist stepping fully into the spotlight, ‘Notes To Self’ finds Lampley — the trumpet and sousaphone virtuoso, singer-songwriter, composer, and bandleader who spent 11 years in the house band on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ — pairing introspective songwriting with the virtuosity, joy, and communal energy that have defined his career. Blending jazz, soul, pop, gospel, and contemporary roots music, the album reflects on ambition, optimism, faith, and growth. ‘Notes To Self’ is streaming everywhere now.
