Did you know the outside color of the eggshell makes zero difference on the flavor or nutrition of the contents inside. The color of the eggshell is determined by the breed and is simply a pigment that gets added to the shell. An eggshell is made of calcium which is naturally white. So no matter what color the egg is, it’s going to be white on the inside because the interior doesn’t get that color pigment added to it. With many breeds you can actually tell what color of eggshell they’ll lay based on their earlobes! But again, this has no effect on the quality of the eggs. So what does affect the nutritional quality of an egg? Diet of the bird, freshness of the egg, the environment the animal is in and their overall health! #chicken #poultry #funfacts #homestead #shilohfarm
