From 2010 to 2021, Jansen owned the ninth inning in Los Angeles, becoming the Dodgers’ all-time saves leader with 350 saves. He struck out 1,022 batters as a Dodger, made three All-Star teams, and played a key role in the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series championship. What makes it even crazier? He originally came up as a catcher before completely reinventing himself as a pitcher.
After leaving L.A., Jansen continued adding to his résumé with the Braves, Red Sox, Angels and Tigers. In 2026, he reached 495 career saves, moving into third place on MLB’s all-time list, behind only Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman.
With four All-Star selections, two Reliever of the Year awards, a World Series ring and nearly 500 saves, Jansen has built a career that puts him firmly among the greatest closers the game has ever seen. And at 38, he’s still adding to the legacy.
