Ichiro Suzuki arrived in MLB in 2001 and immediately became a superstar, winning Rookie of the Year and MVP while recording 242 hits and 56 stolen bases. He went on to make 10 All-Star teams, win 10 Gold Gloves, and rack up 3,089 MLB hits.
In 2004, Ichiro broke the single-season hits record with 262 hits — a record that still stands. Add his 1,278 hits in Japan, and he finished his career with an incredible 4,367 professional hits.
And then there was his arm. Just eight games into his MLB career, Ichiro launched a laser from right field to throw out Terrence Long at third. Speed, accuracy, power — Ichiro had it all.
