SLMPD Officer Colin Ledbetter fought for nearly four years to save the leg he lost after being shot in the line of duty.
After years of surgeries, setbacks and uncertainty, Colin was finally flown out to meet the doctor who would make the decision. When he was told the leg would have to be amputated, something unexpected happened.
He felt peace.
Colin talks about accepting what was going to happen, calling his father, looking back at the overwhelming support he and Nate received after the shooting, and realizing just how many people were still standing behind them.
After fighting for that leg for four years, Colin was ready to move forward.
“I was like, let’s go.”
