MPs have voted against a fresh move to legalise assisted dying in England and Wales. It was the second attempt to change the law - last year an identical bill was supported by MPs, but stalled and ran out of time in the House of Lords. The bill would have allowed adults with fewer than six months to live to apply to be given help to end their own life, subject to certain safeguards.
