indie bookstores are some of the coolest places you’ll ever visit, and working at one has allowed me to do things i never would have imagined. this was one of those things! twice a year, the american booksellers association puts a panel of booksellers together to read SO many manuscripts from debut authors (both adult and children’s fiction) and they narrow the titles down to ten to make the indie next list. this year, i was lucky enough to be one of the booksellers on the winter/spring kid’s panel. we met weekly from may to august to talk about the books we read and whittle away at the list until we were left with 10 titles. it is absolutely as hard as it sounds to only choose ten, haha. i had so much fun meeting booksellers from all over the country and reading books i probably wouldn’t have picked up on my own but ended up adoring. it was such a fun experience and i am so excited the list is out and everyone can see all the hard work we did reading and blurbing the titles. genu...
