Kerid Crater! They call it the Blue Eye of Iceland, and once you see it, the name makes perfect sense. Kerið is a volcanic crater that didn’t explode, it collapsed, the ground giving way after magma drained out underground thousands of years ago. What’s left is this striking bowl of deep red rock wrapped around a bright aquamarine lake, one of the youngest craters in a very old country. My son said it looked like another planet. Hard to disagree.” 🌋 #keridcrater #blueeyeoficeland #icelandgoldencircle #volcaniciceland #icelandadventure
