One day, Parashurama arrived at Mount Kailash to meet Lord Shiva. At the entrance, he was stopped by Ganesha, who was guarding the doorway on his mother Parvati’s instructions. Shiva was resting, and Ganesha refused to allow anyone to disturb him. Parashurama insisted on entering. Ganesha stood firm. Neither was willing to step aside, and a fierce confrontation followed. Parashurama finally raised his divine Parashu (axe) — the very weapon he had received from Lord Shiva. Ganesha recognized the weapon. Though he had the power to stop it, he chose not to, out of respect for his father’s divine weapon. The Parashu struck Ganesha and broke one of his tusks. Seeing her son injured, Goddess Parvati became furious. The situation became intense, but eventually Parashurama realized the gravity of his actions and offered his respect to Ganesha.
