Kim Jong Un appears to be encouraging North Koreans to spend more of their money on state-run leisure and entertainment, from coffee bars and luxury malls to waterparks and beach resorts.
The country has seen a surge in imports of treadmills, massage equipment, pianos and amusement rides, as new leisure complexes continue to open.
Analysts say the push is about more than giving citizens ways to have fun - it could also help the government pull spending away from informal markets and bring more of the economy under state control.
State media has increasingly highlighted shopping, tourism and leisure in recent years, showcasing a very different side of life under Kim’s regime.
