Authorities in the Philippines said it could take weeks or months to identify the 76 people killed in a ferry fire. Forensic experts have begun collecting and comparing DNA samples from charred remains as investigators work to determine the cause of one of the country’s deadliest maritime disasters in recent years. The ferry was carrying more than 130 people when it caught fire en route from Manila to Coron, in Palawan province. The journey typically takes about 20 hours. The disaster is the latest in a string of deadly maritime accidents in the Philippines, an archipelago of more than 7,600 islands where millions rely on ferries and small boats to travel. #philippines #ferry #asia #fire
