Because apparently my cochlea isn’t the only part of my inner ear that likes to have opinions. I have EVAS -Enlarged Vestibular Aqueduct Syndrome - which is the reason behind my progressive hearing loss AND can come with vestibular/balance issues. I can’t walk a straight line with my eyes closed 👀 Your inner ear isn’t just responsible for hearing. Right next door to the cochlea is the vestibular system, which helps your brain understand movement, balance, and where your body is in space. So while my kids are living their BEST lives spinning around the playground… I’m over here like: I love you, but GET ME OFF THIS THING. 😂🫠 Just another reminder that being DHH can involve a whole lot more than what shows up on an audiogram.
