An advertising campaign featuring American actor Sydney Sweeney has drawn criticism from female athletes who say it sexualizes women in sports.
The ad for sports prediction platform Novig shows Sweeney wearing little or no clothing, with footballs and sports apparel strategically covering parts of her body.
Four-time Olympic swimming gold medalist Ariarne Titmus called the campaign infuriating, questioning why women’s bodies continue to be used for commercial gain.
Former US gymnast Gracie Kramer and Chinese-German rugby player Sofie Fella were among other athletes to condemn the campaign.
Novig and Sweeney’s publicist did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
