China has called on all parties involved in rising tensions in Yemen and the Red Sea to exercise restraint and resolve disputes through political and diplomatic means.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Monday that recent violence had caused civilian casualties and damage to energy and other facilities linked to people’s livelihoods.
Guo’s comments came after Houthi forces in Yemen reportedly attacked civilian and energy facilities in four cities in southern Saudi Arabia, injuring 73 civilians, including women and children.
The Houthis have also said they came under attack, resulting in casualties.
China urged the relevant parties to ease tensions through communication and dialogue and help bring the situation under control as soon as possible.
