Thousands of demonstrators joined forces across various pro-democracy groups in central Berlin to protest the rise of far-right extremism in Germany.⁣ ⁣ Organized as approximately 100 separate smaller events, the groups converged at a central meeting point over the course of the afternoon. ⁣ ⁣ According to organizers, the rally aimed to reject right-wing extremism and demonstrate support for an open, inclusive society. ⁣ ⁣ The demonstration comes in the wake of strong electoral performance by the far right-wing AfD in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt, as well as ahead of upcoming elections in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.⁣ ⁣ #germany #altright #europe #eu #fascism #afd
