Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has dissolved parliament and called a snap election for October 25, as he seeks to extend his political dominance by running for prime minister.⁣ ⁣ Vuci has held power as president or prime minister since 2014.⁣ ⁣ Vucic said the election was necessary because of “political conflicts” and tensions in the country, adding that delaying the vote would threaten democracy.⁣ ⁣ His ruling Serbian Progressive Party nominated him as its candidate for prime minister on Saturday.
